JavaScript Popup Boxes

JavaScript gives you three built-in popup methods to interact with users: alert(), confirm(), and prompt().

They are simple, fast, and useful for beginner projects where you need quick feedback or input.

When you call alert(), the browser shows a message with an "OK" button. The user must click it before interacting with the page again.

Use it for short notices such as warnings, confirmations, or status messages.

alert("Welcome to Simply JavaScript!"); 

When this code runs, the message appears immediately. Alert boxes are helpful, but overusing them can make the user experience frustrating.

confirm() asks a yes-or-no question. It shows a dialog with "OK" and "Cancel" buttons.

let result = confirm("Do you want to continue?"); 

This popup asks the user whether they want to continue. confirm() returns true when the user clicks "OK" and false when they click "Cancel" or close the dialog.

  console.log("User clicked OK!");
} else {
  console.log("User clicked Cancel or closed the dialog!");
} 

You can use this return value to choose what your code should do next.

prompt() asks the user to type a value and returns what they entered.

let answer = prompt("What is your name?");
console.log(answer); 

In this example, the browser asks for a name. If the user types a value and clicks "OK", it is stored in answer. If they cancel or close the box, the result is null.

The console.log(answer) line prints the entered value, or null if the user cancels.

Note: prompt() always returns your user's input as a string. If you need a number, you'll have to convert it using Number() or parseInt().
